Relevance: A Study in Contemporary IssuesSunday Adult Bible Fellowship Class at 9:00 a.m. Led by Dr. Dale Doty. This class uses a short presentation and discussion format. We now live in what some have termed "post-Christian America." This class is designed to stimulate Christians to gain the knowledge and tools to deepen and articulately share and defend our faith in a culture that is often hostile to God. The great Reformation leader Martin Luther said, “Unless the gospel is preached with contemporary relevance it has not been preached.” Participants will also gather outside class for times of fellowship and fun. Currently studying What's the Old Testament Have to Do With Me. An overview of the chronology of the Old Testament, with an emphasis on the historical reliability of scripture, archeological proofs, and the prophecies and foretelling of Christ. The class will also look at the Biblical basis of our Judeo-Christian value system and will help lay the foundation for a better understanding of the New Testament. The Life and Writings of C. S. LewisThe Relevance adult bible fellowship will begin a study series on The Life and Writings of C. S. Lewis. The class will consider Lewis’ conversion from atheism to one of Christianity's great spokespersons. The class will read and discuss several of Lewis' classics including The Screwtape Letters, The Great Divorce, Mere Christianity, and the children's series The Chronicles of Narnia. The class will listen to and discuss recorded sections of his books and movies. The class will also listen to interviews of those who knew Lewis personally. We will attempt to understand how one man made such a lasting contribution to the Body of Christ. The ultimate objective of this study will be to deepen our walk with Christ, and learn to present Him in creative ways to the unsaved and skeptic. We hope you will begin reading, and join us for this lively study. Visitors are always welcome. Led by Dale Doty, Ph.D. |
