Foster Care Emphasis “111 Project” – Sunday, May 20

On January 1, 2012 there were 8308 children who, through no fault of their own, were in the custody of the Oklahoma Department of Human Services (OKDHS). The families of these children are not able to care for them due to incarceration, extreme poverty, physical abuse, drug abuse, neglect or abandonment. The 111 Project is a campaign to recruit foster families from Oklahoma churches to meet this need. The purpose is to leave no Oklahoma child without a family. On Sunday, May 20th, the Cedar Ridge family will be challenged to step up and make a difference in the lives of Oklahoma children. You won’t want to miss this important Sunday.

2012 Monthly Skeet Shoots

Skeet shooters take note. It is that time of year to get back out there and blow up some of those crafty and evasive little orange clay pigeons. Below is a schedule of the CRCC monthly outing to the range to test your skill, brag about it, or encourage someone else.

Our skeet shoots take place at the Tulsa Gun Club – 9104 E. Mohawk Road (56th street North ¼ mile west of Mingo in Tulsa). We meet at 9:15 and start shooting around 9:45. The cost is $5.00 per round of 25; you can shoot one or two rounds depending on time and availability of fields. Everyone who plans to shoot should bring ammo (or borrow from a friend). You will also want to bring eye protection and ear plugs, which are required. If you plan to go, be sure to sign up each month at the Men’s Ministry Table, BA Campus, or by contacting Wendell Fichtner.

Radical Faith Mission Trips 2012

In 2012, the leadership of Cedar Ridge Christian Church challenges you to experience first-hand how Cedar Ridge is impacting the world with the good news of Jesus Christ. Join us on a Radical Faith Mission Trip!

Trips include:

Mexico: March 17 – 24
North Africa: May 12 – 19 (Registration closed)
South Africa #1: June 22 – July 1 (Registration deadline: April 1)
South Africa #2: September 29 – October 7 (Registration deadline: May 1)

(**All dates are subject to change.) Up to 50% of the cost of each of these trips is eligible for support from the Cedar Ridge Global Outreach Team. All participants on the North and South Africa trips must be a member of Cedar Ridge Christian Church. More details and applications are available at the Welcome Center at both campuses. What is it and Why Do We Need to Do it?

Starting Monday, October 31, and ending on Sunday, November 6, Cedar Ridge attenders will be challenged to eat on less than $2 a day. 20% of the world lives in poverty and nearly half of the world’s population lives on less than $2 a day: two dollars a day for food, housing, school, transportation, medical emergencies, and all other expenses. The $2 a Day Challenge invites you to experience a little of what life is like by eating on less than two dollars a day for one week.

Journal throughout the experience, and at the end of the week, come together with your small group to share what you have learned, what questions have been raised, what you struggled with, and how you felt about the challenge.

The Challenge Has Three Simple Rules:

Spend only $2 per day per person on all food and drinks.
Only eat what you buy during the week of the challenge – no stocking up the week before!
If you spend more than $2 one day, deduct the amount you went over from the next day’s expenses.

Eating basic food like pasta, rice, eggs, potatoes, and beans can help you meet the challenge. Buying in mass quantities or exchanging meals with friends – just be sure to subtract the total you spend on bulk purchase from the rest of the week’s spending.

National Missionary Convention

The convention will be held in Atlanta, Georgia November 17-20 and will offer many workshops and exhibits, as well as special programming for students and children.
